The government of India has issued new guidelines for Telecom Service Providers in case of foreign tourists visiting India. The Govt. has asked the Telecom Servive Providers not to provide mobile connection for more than three months to any foreign tourist visiting India.

This step has been taken to check the missuse of SIM cards. According to the fresh guidelines, which have come into effect recently, the Department of Telecom has told the service providers that the proof of issuance of mobile connection to any foreigner would be his passport having valid visa.
